Frequently Asked Questions

How much are your cookies?
Custom cookies start at $6/cookie for regular-sized cookies. Regular-sized custom cookies have a one dozen minimum and there is a two dozen minimum for mini sized cookies when ordering. I currently am not able to take orders over 4 dozen.

How do your cookies come packaged?
Cookies are individually sealed in clear bags and come packaged in a window box or cookie tray. Tags, ribbons, bows, boxes, and any other decorative items are available for an additional price and will be reflected on your invoice.

How far in advance should I order?
It’s never too early to book your order! As of now, I am currently booking 2-3 months out depending on the time of year with holiday cookies and other custom orders I have. Custom cookies require a lot of time and planning!

How do I place an order? Do you require a deposit?
​Please submit all custom order requests through my inquiry form on my website. Once you send a request and we agree upon availability, quantity, pricing and pickup, I will email you a link to your individual order page. I require full payment at time of order. Due to the volume of custom orders I make, your order is not on my calendar until it is paid for. Payments are processed directly on my website. Cookies will be available for pickup at the pre-arranged time.

What type of cookies can you design?
I can create designs based on information you give me. The more details the better! I love knowing favorite colors, themes, names, phrases, and inspiration pictures. As with any custom order, the final product will vary in shape, size and color from original inspiration.

Where are you located? Do you deliver?
Pickups are in Glastonbury, CT. At this time, I do not deliver.

Do you ship?
Base Layer Bakes operates under the Connecticut Cottage Food Laws which stipulate that we cannot ship cookies. If you would like to ship the cookies yourself, I can share with you some best practices for packaging cookies to ship. Base Layer Bakes does not assume responsibility for shipping or broken cookies once they leave my home.

Are your cookies allergen-free?
All cookies are made in a Cottage Food home kitchen. Consumers are to be aware that the cookies produced in this kitchen are made with food allergens including but not limited to dairy, eggs, gluten, and sometimes nuts. I cannot guarantee zero cross-contamination with other food allergens.

What flavors do you offer?
Currently I offer 2 standard cookie flavors which are vanilla bean and almond vanilla. Other flavors are available upon request at an additional fee including dark chocolate, cinnamon roll, cookies & cream, and lemon blueberry. As stated above, I cannot guarantee zero cross-contamination with other cookie recipes as all our products are baked in a shared kitchen with dairy, nuts, eggs and gluten. 

But what if I need cookies next week?
Most likely my schedule will be booked a week out. But if I do have some availability there will be a rush fee of $25 or 20%, whichever is greater, if an order is placed with under two weeks notice. I cannot accept orders less than 4 days out as most orders take 3-4 days to complete. 

What if I need to cancel my order?
Life happens, I totally get it. If you cancel with at least a two-week notice a 100% refund will be issued. If you cancel between 7-14 days before your pickup date, a 50% refund will be issued. With any less than one week notice, I will not be able to issue a refund as I will have already started your cookies. If your event gets postponed last minute, you can always freeze your cookies. Sugar cookies freeze really well!
